About me

I offer sessions for adults and teenagers, face-to-face in Wokingham or remotely via preferred platform. I have worked in the therapeutic field for more than eleven years, and I have trained as an integrative psychotherapist. I have a range of approaches and strategies to use in sessions, to adapt to the client's needs. I use an existential approach, complemented with a Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT) approach. This helps to address core beliefs that interfere with a client's happiness and explores ways to find meaning, direction and purpose. I support the client to develop communication skills, so that they feel capable and confident to establish and maintain positive relationships.

I have a particular interest in male issues, and encourage men to seek therapy and to challenge the still present judgement of finding support and talking about presenting issues.

I offer a supportive space whilst encouraging the client to step outside of their comfort zone (at a reasonable pace) and attempt to live a more satisfactory and fulfilling life. I encourage a development of assertiveness in relationships as a way to achieve certain goals. I support the client to process experiences so that they feel less heavy, so that the client is less likely to feel stuck.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified as an integrative therapeutic counsellor, and gained knowledge from Person-Centred therapy; Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Psychodynamic therapy; and Existential therapy. I have worked with teenagers and adults, although mostly the latter. I work with men and women, and facilitate a group therapy programme. I supervise other therapists and take part in monthly supervision (group and individual) to develop my practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
