About me

Hello, my name is Mia - welcome, and thank you for visiting my profile.

I am a BACP accredited counsellor, IFS therapist and therapuetic coach.

I specialise in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a powerful, compassionate, evidence-based psychotherapy model. We can either focus solely on IFS or incorporate it within therapeutic coaching, which emphasises working with your intentions for change and growth.

For those drawn to more exploratory approaches, I also offer Intuitive Coaching and nature-based eco therapy/coaching sessions that can be undertaken as short-term, self-contained bodies of work, or integrated with longer-term therapeutic work.

I believe that the heart of truly transformative therapy is a felt sense of safety. Without this, the nervous system remains in protection and deeper healing cannot fully unfold. This principle sits at the core of an IFS approach, which is comprehensive in its respectful and safe way of working at depth.

At times, however, before we can go deeper with approaches such as IFS, it is important first to establish a clearer felt sense of safety in the body. For this reason, my work often integrates practices that cultivate safety, stability, and regulation, so that therapy becomes not only possible, but more effective and sustainable. I therefore offer a range of bottom-up, body-based approaches that support the nervous system directly, without relying on thinking or cognitive effort. These include polyvagal-informed practices such as Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping), gentle breathing practices, nature-based work, and creative and expressive approaches. I am also certified to deliver the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), a non-invasive listening-based intervention designed to re-tune the nervous system and support better connection, regulation, collaboration, and resilience.

Together, these methods help settle the system, expand the window of tolerance, and create the conditions in which deeper therapeutic exploration and lasting transformative change can occur.

In essence, I offer a holistic, supportive space where you can take time to pause, reflect, and gain clarity about what you’re experiencing. In our sessions, we’ll work together to explore your thoughts and feelings more deeply, uncovering and addressing the roots of your challenges. My intention is to provide a warm, understanding environment where you feel genuinely seen and heard, and where the conditions for healing, transformation, and growth are carefully supported.

The services I offer:

  • Psychotherapeutic Counselling
  • IFS Therapy
  • Therapeutic Coaching
  • Supervision

“My work with Mia was my first experience of Internal Family Systems, and it proved to be incredibly impactful. Mia is a grounded, non-judgemental guide. I always felt completely safe to share even the parts of myself I carried the most shame around, knowing they would be met with kindness and compassion. Through our sessions, I learned how to approach my inner world with curiosity rather than fear, which has transformed my relationship with myself. I use the language and tools Mia taught me every day and I would highly recommend anyone experiencing challenges consider Mia’s approach and support.” (Client testimonial)

Training, qualifications & experience

Professional Background

I am an expereinced BACP accredited therapist with expertise in supporting clients across a range of settings, including private practice, with charities, and the NHS. I focus on working 1-1 with adult individuals and my practice has recently expanded to include supervision.

Over the years, I have worked with clients of all ages and walks of life, gaining broad professional experience with a diverse range of people. I have a particular interest and experience in working with neurodivergent clients, including those with autism, ADHD, and other identities. In my private practice and with organisations, my client groups have included students, academics, career professionals, creatives and people seeking personal growth, as well as people navigating change, health challenges and life transitions. I have also worked in a voluntary capacity for many years with a charity supporting survivors of sexual abuse and violence, and I am very interested in continuing to support people who have experienced significant trauma, abuse, and relational/complex trauma.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
