MBACP - Integrative counsellor & Psychotherapist

About me

You are welcome here!

Hi I'm Megan, I’m a qualified BACP registered Integrative Counsellor, which in short means I am able to blend different therapeutic approaches to suit your unique circumstances.

Life can feel overwhelming at times. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, or a sense of feeling stuck, you don’t have to face it on your own. I offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions, to gain greater understanding, and work toward finding a path forward that feels right for you.

To arrange an initial phone call please fill out the contact form.

Usually the first phone call last up to 15 minutes, this isn’t a counselling session. It’s more of a chat for us to get to know each other, because the most important things is that you feel comfortable with me. Following this, you decide if you would like to book a first session.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

My clinical experience

I have experience supporting people who have experienced domestic abuse, trauma and other forms of emotional distress, within a domestic abuse organisation.

This means I work from a compassionate trauma informed positioning, with a focus on rebuilding self esteem, emotional safety and empowerment.

I’ve worked within a EAP organisation, supporting professionals who have experienced work related stress, anxiety, depression and burnout.  This organisation provides short term counselling, therefore, I have valuable experience working within short term therapeutic model, this might be important to you if you are concerned over the cost / length of therapy. This would be something I would be happy to discuss.

My approach is Neurodivergent affirming, my aim is to honor your ways of thinking, feeling, and experiencing the world. Whether you're formally diagnosed, self-identified, or just exploring, my aim is to support you to process, and thrive, not just cope. Disclaimer - my role is not to diagnose.

 Qualifications.

  • I hold a PG Diploma in Integrative counselling and psychotherapy at USW. I am completing my final year leading to a Masters Degree in Integrative counselling.
  • In 2022, I qualified as a Person Centered Counselling by completing the AIM Level 4 Diploma in Person centered counselling at CG (Coleg Gwent).
  • AIM Level 3 Counselling - CG (Coleg Gwent).
  • AIM Level 2 counselling Skills Cert - CG (Coleg Gwent).
  • BA - Health and Social Care - Cardiff Metropolitan University
  • REWIND Therapy trained.
  • Pretrial therapy training completed with the Survivors Trust.

Prior to becoming a counsellor, I have worked within adult social care in various roles. Notably, as a social work assistant supporting people to be discharged from hospital safely. This means I have experience of working closely with people who have experienced a loss of independence due to ill health, or a changing life circumstances and have a good understanding of the challenges that involve being a carer.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
