About me

HelIo, my name is Meela, from Pause and Way Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I am a pluralistic therapist, meaning that I work from a range of modalities, finding the right fit for you and your issues. I work with people of all ages, from all backgrounds.

I work most often with clients suffering from anxiety, generally this is linked to stress.  We all have so many demands on our time and other resources that can impact our own mental health and wellbeing.   I offer a judgment free, "safe space" in which we can explore your issues and concerns and work to move way from this feeling of worry, tension and nervousness.

My background in education means I have significant experience with teens and their issues and understand the pressures from peers, education and society as a whole. Helping us to work together to resolve issues and concerns.

Counselling offers a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space where you or your teen can explore issues that are causing concern. I will work with you to explore these worries and help to develop coping strategies to support them now and into the future.

Background

The first twenty years of my career were spent teaching Economics and Business Studies in local high schools, with an additional pastoral role supporting young people with personal issues, helping them overcome their barriers to learning.

When Covid-19 hit in 2020, I took the opportunity to complete some counselling courses to better support the young people in my care. This area has continued to interest me and I have refocused my career path with further professional training which has developed into Pause and Way.
