About me

People come to counselling for many different reasons.

I can support you with experiences including:

  • Anxiety, health anxiety, and social anxiety
  • Stress and feeling overwhelmed
  • Depression and low mood
  • Low confidence and self-esteem
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma and difficult past experiences
  • Relationship and marriage difficulties
  • Communication and family difficulties
  • Life changes and transitions
  • Menopause
  • Children growing up and moving towards independence
  • Bullying
  • Sexuality and LGBTQ+ experiences
  • Neurodiversity and understanding a diagnosis

You do not need to fit neatly into one of these areas to come to counselling.

Sometimes having a safe space to talk is the starting point.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Integrative Therapist, registered with the BABCP

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent more than 10 years working with children, teenagers, and young people within education, including special educational settings and supporting those with disabilities and additional needs.

This experience has given me a strong understanding of some of the challenges young people and families may face, and has contributed to my particular interest in supporting neurodivergent young people, including those with autism and ADHD.

Through my counselling work, I have supported young people and adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, low confidence, relationship and family difficulties, neurodiversity and other emotional challenges.

I also currently work within a charity providing counselling to young people and adults.

I work as an Integrative Counsellor, which means I can draw on different therapeutic approaches according to your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

My principal approach is Transactional Analysis, which can help us understand how previous experiences, relationships and patterns of communication may influence the way we think, feel and behave.

I also draw on Person-Centred counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) where appropriate.

Together, we can explore what is happening for you, recognise patterns and consider new perspectives and ways forward.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
