About me
I offer gentle, face to face counselling for adults in and around St Austell to help you navigate the difficult times in your life.
My therapy provides a safe, non judgemental space for us to explore your thoughts and feelings, even if you can't express what it is thats troubling you. Sometimes, the most painful circumstances can lead to discovering the best healing process. Everything you have experienced is unique to you alone, and this is central to our work together. You determine the focus and pace of therapy, and you can choose to stop at any time. I will be with you, supporting you all the way.
I will respond to all requests within 48hrs by email, offering a FREE introductory half hour session if appropriate. This gives us a chance to meet and discuss what you would like to achieve and how therapy might look for you. (Please check your junk mail folder).
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm a trained, experienced Psychotherapist/Counsellor and the work I do is based on the Person Centred approach, however I will use a variety of techniques as appropriate for each client. I'm a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and work to their ethical standards. I've worked with mental health in a variety of settings including the NHS, Education, Housing and the Charity Sector. I celebrate diversity and enjoy promoting inclusion and equality in all my work.
Throughout times in my life I've undergone personal counselling, where I gained a different perspective, helping me to manage some very challenging life events. My decision to train as a Psychotherapist reflects my belief that positive change is possible, if you are open to the process.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
I choose to work with you as an individual and whatever you bring to therapy, rather than targeting a specific specialty. However, I have extensive experience in working with health related issues, particularly Diabetes, CSF/ME and Cancer.
