About me
A warm welcome to my profile. I'm Marta, a qualified therapist based in Saltaire, West Yorkshire. I offer in-person and remote sessions, online and via telephone.
My professional background is in the social housing sector, where I've developed a deep understanding of the environmental factors that impact our wellbeing. I’ve witnessed first-hand how every day circumstances can profoundly affect mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.
Within the last years, I've worked with victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence offering trauma-informed support to survivors.
I work with clients who feel stuck in repeating patterns, facing lasting anxiety, low self-worth, emotional disconnection and challenges in modern relationships and dating.
I offer support to those who have gone through domestic abuse and sexual violence, using a trauma-informed approach. I have a lot of expertise helping clients deal with grief and deep loss, whether it’s from a breakup, losing a family connection, changes in their sense of self, losing a job, or dealing with long-term illness.
I help clients understand their experiences and figure out the reasons behind their relationship patterns, so they can build healthier connections. I also support clients dealing with a variety of challenges, such as anxiety, stress, low mood, low self-esteem, depression, trauma, women's issues, and questions around identity and sexuality.
I’m bilingual offering therapy sessions in English and Polish.
I hold a degree in Counselling and Psychology and progressed to a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am currently in the process of obtaining an Masters in Integrative Counselling. I am a qualified and trained Independent Domestic Violence Adviser (IDVA) and a Restorative Justice and mediation Practitioner.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
My approach
I work relationally, offering a truly personalised therapeutic relationship tailored to you. My approach is trauma-informed, humanistic, and integrative. I use different techniques depending on what fits your needs, and my primary focus is on building a supportive and collaborative relationship with you, while exploring what really matters to you.
I believe you're the expert in your own life, and my role is to create a space where you feel truly listened to, without judgment, so you can make sense of your experience. I'll offer caring and thoughtful interventions, but I won’t push solutions.
To ensure we're a good fit, I offer a free 10-minutes consultation where we can discuss your needs, and you can get a sense of who I am and how I work.
I work with adult clients for short-term and long-terms therapy.
I work ethically, following the framework set out by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a degree in Counselling and Psychology (Hons) and progressed to a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (distinction). I am currently in the process of obtaining an Masters in Integrative Counselling.
I have 15 years of experience working in the social housing sector, where I have supported diverse client groups with a range of needs and challenges. In recent years, I have extensively worked with victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence, providing trauma-informed support to help them navigate their recovery journey.
I have worked for charitable therapeutic organisations within bereavement settings, supporting clients coping with grief and loss, as well as providing general counselling for adult clients presenting with a range of adverse experiences, including anxiety/stress, low mood, low self-esteem, depression, familial and relationship issues, domestic abuse, sexual violence, trauma, women’s issues, identity, and sexuality (among others).

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
