About me

Hello, I’m Mer and I’m delighted you have visited my counselling profile.

I’m a qualified Psychologist and Psychotherapist with over 25 years’ experience supporting adults through trauma, addiction, anxiety, and the emotional difficulties that come with life’s challenges. I’m accredited with both the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), and work with a grounded, evidence-based approach using CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed therapy.

My background spans the UK and the US, across private practice, hospitals, and rehabilitation settings. I specialise in helping people who feel stuck in unhelpful patterns — often linked to trauma, addiction, or difficult relationships — to rebuild confidence and a sense of self.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to healing. Real change happens when therapy feels like a genuine connection — a safe space where you can be honest, heard, and understood. My style is straightforward, compassionate, and down-to-earth. I balance warmth with honesty, offering support and challenge in equal measure.

Clients often say they value my practical approach and the sense of trust we build together. Therapy with me is about collaboration — making sense of your past, understanding your present, and creating a future that feels more settled and authentic.

I am believer in holistic treatment which means I don’t believe in just treating the mind but also treating the body and soul to lead a happier and more positive life.

Are you ready to change your life? Schedule your appointment with me today!

Feeling curious about my style and what it is like to work with me? Feel free to book a free video consultation. I’d love to learn about you and how I can help.

I also offer clinical supervision for individuals working towards their accreditation or maintaining their accreditation with a professional body. During supervision with me, we will address case consultation, ethics and laws and personal growth as a therapist.

Training, qualifications & experience

I’m a qualified Psychologist and Psychotherapist, accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD), a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and a Master's in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I’m also Licensed Addictions and DBT Therapist, and work as a Clinical Supervisor, supporting other therapists in their professional development.

With over 25 years’ experience in both the UK and US, I’ve worked across private practice, hospitals, and rehabilitation settings. I specialise in supporting adults with trauma, addiction, anxiety, and relationship difficulties, helping them make sense of their experiences and build steadier, more confident lives.

My approach combines structure and evidence-based practice with warmth, honesty, and humanity. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine connection — supportive, respectful, and focused on what truly matters to you.
