About me
Do you feel anxious, stressed and overwhelmed? Maybe you're exhausted by the weight of everything you are carrying? Perhaps you're here because you're worried about your mental health and you know you need help, but you're not really sure what that help looks like?
You may be looking for counselling because you have a specific problem that you hope to resolve, or you may just feel a sense of dissatisfaction, anxiety, unhappiness/depression, or low self-esteem, and want to discover why, and importantly, how this can change.
Though you might struggle to accept this at first, I believe you are the expert on yourself, and I will support you in finding different perspectives to effectively face current challenges and past issues.
You are unique, and so how we work together will also be unique, but I can help you explore any issues, working together to deepen your self-awareness, emotional processing, and resilience.

"I highly recommend Marie. She created a calm and welcoming environment, helping me talk openly. She was excellent at asking insightful questions to encourage deeper reflection, while also pushing back or challenging when what I was saying was confused or unclear. I always felt respected, heard, and supported at my own pace."
"Thank you for fostering an environment in which I felt comfortable opening up about how I was feeling. I certainly feel as though I am leaving with more perspective and clarity compared to when I first came to you."

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The Association of Christians in Counselling and Linked Professions (ACC) is a Christian professional membership organisation for those involved in counselling/psychotherapy and linked professions, i.e. pastoral care, coaching and spiritual direction, in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.

Further information
Making contact by email first is usually best. Then we can arrange an initial, free 20-minute online or phone conversation. This will give you the chance to ask questions and explain why you are looking for therapy, and for me to explain how I work, which will help us decide if we can work well together.
I offer weekly 50-minute sessions, with the first 6 sessions usually serving to determine whether a longer-term commitment is needed. I offer both short- and long-term counselling, checking in with clients regularly to make sure that the therapy continues to deliver the desired support.
