About me

Want the freedom to tell your story in a caring and non-judgmental space?

You are unique, and so how we work together will also be unique, but I can help you explore any issues, working together to deepen your self-awareness, emotional processing, and resilience.

You may be looking for counselling because you have a specific problem that you hope to resolve, or you may just feel a sense of dissatisfaction, anxiety, unhappiness, or low self-esteem, and want to discover why, and importantly, how this can change.

Though you might struggle to accept this at first, I believe you are the expert on yourself and I will support you in finding different perspectives to effectively face current challenges and past issues.

"We do not wound alone and we do not heal alone" Carl Jung

Working with you, I can offer:

  • Support to tune into yourself so you can understand what you truly need
  • Help to recognise, and healthily embrace, your emotions
  • Deeper understanding of how you are in relationships with others
  • Genuine understanding and attentive listening without the fear of being judged
  • Ways to enhance your self-compassion and your ability to cope with uncertainty.

To help you understand your feelings and improve your overall mental health and wellbeing.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Postgraduate Clinical Training (level 7)
  • Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist
  • Registered Member of BACP & ACC

I find the flexibility and creativity of an integrative approach helps me personalise therapy for each of my clients.

I have over 25 years experience working in the publishing sector. I also have lived experience of the impact of redundancy, and have supported a family member with anxiety, panic disorder and depression, which have helped shape my professional counselling journey.

Alongside my professional counselling practice I also work for a local low-cost counselling agency.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association of Christians in Counselling and Linked Professions (ACC)

When I work

I have flexibility within my working hours, Monday to Friday, online and face-to-face, including some evening appointments so please do contact me for up-to-date availability.

Further information

Availability online via Google Meet and face-to-face at The Cherry Tree Centre, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

Making contact by email first is usually best. Then we can arrange an initial, free 15-minute online or phone conversation. This will give you the chance to ask questions and explain why you are looking for therapy, and for me to explain how I work, which will help us decide if we can work well together.

I offer weekly 50-minute sessions, with the first 6 sessions usually serving to determine whether a longer-term commitment is needed. I offer both short- and long-term counselling, checking in with clients regularly to make sure that the therapy continues to deliver the desired support.
