About me

Hi there,

I’m an Integrative, Person-Centred Counsellor, with an interest in creative and energy-based therapies. I am an Emotional freedom Techniques (EFT), Matrix Re-Imprinting and NLP Practitioner too, and will be starting a Walk and Talk therapy in June 2026. I'm based in the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire areas.

Being Integrative means I can draw from the main theories and interventions from counselling and psychotherapy. Which means I can be flexible and adaptable in my approach. The services I can offer will be personalised and tailored to your needs and goals, and your therapeutic journey with me will be designed to help you understand what it is that you’re going through. It will give you that much needed clarity and help to build tools and resources, so that you can finally start to move forwards with confidence.

The Person-Centred approach focuses on the individual as the expert in their own life. It emphasises the importance of a supportive therapeutic relationship based on empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. Through this safe and compassionate environment, individuals are helped to explore their experiences and develop greater self-understanding and personal growth.

Creative interventions can help people understand their experience on a deeper level, but often from a gentler perspective. Creative interventions can range from creative writing, poetry, and art to clay and sand tray work, even Lego building. Working with metaphor in this way can be helpful in discovering connections and meaning to their struggles.

Energy therapies are a gentle, holistic practice that focuses on balancing the body’s natural energy systems to support physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It’s based on the idea that stress, emotions, or life experiences can create energetic blockages, and when these are released, the body’s natural ability to heal and regulate itself is supported. The EFT and Matrix Re-imprinting mentioned earlier are energy-based practices that can help calm and ground the body’s nervous system.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a practical approach that explores how thoughts, language, and behaviours are connected. By identifying unhelpful patterns and reframing them, NLP helps clients develop new perspectives, emotional responses, and habits that better support their goals and well-being. This can be used with anxiety and stress, phobias and fears, and addressing any negative patterns of thinking and behaving.

Walk and Talk therapy is becoming increasingly popular and facilitates a different kind of engagement and reflection using mindfulness and movement. A natural outside setting can reduce the intensity of face-to-face conversations and help ease anxiety around attending therapy. It can also make it easier to access and express challenging thoughts and feelings, while helping the individual to remain grounded and centred.

So, as you can see there are lots of different ways to support the challenges you may be facing at this time. My particular interests are around identity, spirituality, and sexuality. I have had extensive experience counselling students in Higher Education and also LGBTQAI+ individuals too.

I offer face-to-face in and around the Derby and Nottingham areas, online and telephone support too. Evening appointments up to 8pm are available.

Sometimes it can be difficult to get a sense of someone when you have lots to read through. But if you visit my website, I have short intro video that may help, and if you just want to chat, I also offer a free consultation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
