About me

I am a qualified therapist and psychotherapeutic counsellor, (registered member of BACP and accredited member of NCPS) working with adults online or in person from my practice near Ludlow, experienced in working with individuals of all ages, and from all walks of life.

I work in a relational way - our therapeutic relationship is central to our work. I also work in a trauma focused way - having undertaken specialist training in this area. Trauma is a lasting emotional response to a stressful event or ongoing events, and can also be relational - a type of psychological harm that can occur in any relationship where someone feels unsafe, unsupported, or unloved - this can be in our present or in our past.

I also work with people who are experiencing many differing difficulties and challenges that can affect us all as human beings, including: relationship difficulties, anger difficulties, trauma experiences, bereavement or loss, the effects of a physical health problem and addiction, and those that may have been given a name or label such as anxiety, depression, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, complex post-traumatic stress disorder or eating disorders, through to those that have not been given a name, or do not have a need to be given a name or label to explain how people are feeling.

As a therapist, I am curious about people and the stories of how they have arrived at the place that they are at in their lives. These stories can often determine how we look out into the world, make sense of it and how we engage with other people.

I have conversations with people to help them to understand their story, to help make sense of their lives and what is going on for them and to understand the parts of themselves, to arrive at a place where they have more knowledge of themselves and feel more balanced.

I am committed to offering support, walking beside you on what can seem like a scary journey as an equal, creating a therapeutic space for us that is safe, empowering and collaborative, where we can actively work together towards the change and growth that you want to see.

I use Transactional Analysis as my main way of working - a talking therapy that focuses on understanding the complexities of human feelings, thoughts and behaviour that we often push aside or keep hidden, working with a belief that we can discover and rediscover our own power and abilities.

I work with care, empathy and confidentially both in short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy.

In person, my practice room is approximately 15 mins from Ludlow, Shropshire, situated just outside Diddlebury in the Corvedale, and within easy reach from Bridgnorth, Church Stretton, Bishop’s Castle, Telford, Leominster, Shrewsbury, and Wolverhampton (50 minutes drive).  I will send a map link and further details before your appointment.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
