About me
Are you an adult adoptee who has quietly struggled with feeling like you don’t fully belong?
Perhaps there’s a sense of something missing, a disconnection from your roots or a feeling of not being enough no matter what you achieve. You might find it difficult to trust your emotions, fear being left or have learned to minimise your needs to stay connected. If any of this feels familiar, you are not alone and you do not have to make sense of it on your own.
As an adoptee myself, I understand how complex and tender this can be. Identity, belonging, loyalty, loss and love can sit side by side, often in ways that feel confusing or heavy. Therapy offers space to explore this openly, without judgement, and without needing to be the good or grateful adoptee.
You might want to explore:
• Feeling disconnected from your identity or sense of self
• Shame, self-doubt or the belief you must cope alone
• Anger, grief or longing that feels difficult to express
• Searching for biological family, or uncertainty about doing so
• Relationship patterns shaped by fear of rejection or abandonment
How I work
I offer relational, trauma-informed therapy with a focus on adoption and how it shapes identity, belonging and self-worth. My work integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS), a gentle approach that helps you explore your inner experience with kindness and curiosity.
The aim is not to fix you, but to support greater understanding, self-compassion and clarity. Therapy with me is collaborative and calm, with room to pause, explore and feel without expectation, at a pace that suits you.
About me
I hold an MA in Integrative Counselling, specialist post-qualifying training in adoption and I am IFS Level 1 trained. My personal experience of adoption sits alongside my professional training, offering a grounded, attuned space where all parts of your story are welcome.
Practicalities
Sessions are usually weekly and can be short-term or open-ended depending on what feels right. I work online across the UK, and in person in Horsforth, Leeds.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
