About me

Here Together Counselling & Therapy

Welcome, I’m Lynda, a counsellor based in Rochester, Kent. I’m here to support you through challenging times, whether you’re dealing with loss, grief, relationship difficulties, or significant life changes. These experiences can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face them alone. Together, we’ll explore what’s happening and find a way forward that honors your experiences and fosters personal growth.

I have extensive experience working with adults in a hospice bereavement service, alongside my private practice, and I deeply understand how grief and trauma can impact you and your relationships. My approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and a commitment to helping you find clarity and peace.

In addition to individual counselling, I offer couples counselling to help partners connect on a deeper level. We’ll focus on present moment awareness, expressing needs, understanding reactions, and strengthening your relationship. Whether you’re facing conflict, disconnection, or other challenges, we’ll work towards bringing balance and understanding.

In our sessions, I create a supportive, trusting environment where you feel truly heard. We’ll work together to understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, exploring how they influence your well-being. Through this process, we can uncover insights that lead to healing and growth.

My approach is holistic and tailored to you, integrating talking therapy with creative techniques to engage with and process your experiences. If you’re experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, or relationship struggles, I’m here to help you navigate these feelings with empathy and care.

Are you looking for a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions? Or perhaps you and your partner want to discover how couples counseling can support your relationship?

Take the Next Step Together.

 Counselling and Me

With over 20 years of experience in the creative industry, I transitioned into counselling, driven by a passion for supporting individuals through life’s challenges. My creative background shapes my therapeutic approach, where I integrate creative interventions to help clients explore their current thoughts, emotions, and experiences and express how we feel  when we don’t always have the words.

Ongoing Professional Development:

I am committed to ongoing professional development and undertake monthly supervision to ensure that my practice remains current and effective. My areas of personal research and interest include attachment and relational trauma, traumatic loss, neurodivergent experiences related to loss, and the use of metaphors and symbolism in understanding the mind. These interests often intersect with my creative approach, allowing me to offer unique, personalised support.

A personalised and inclusive practice.

My practice is neurodivergent-friendly and affirming, informed by my own lived experience with sensory processing differences. This insight helps me understand how unique sensitivities and differences can impact daily life and relationships, making my practice especially welcoming to individuals from all cultures, ethnicities, and walks of life.

Community Involvement

My commitment to mental health and well-being began with my work at Home Start, where I supported mothers particularly those for whom English was a second language as they navigated early motherhood and integrated into their communities. I also facilitated parent-child bonding through creative sessions at Sure Start peer groups. These experiences influenced my journey into counselling, where I continue to support my local community through hospice work and my private practice

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
