About us

Life can be challenging in many different ways, and there are times when we lose sight of who we are or struggle to make sense of what we're feeling. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, loss, life changes, or simply feeling stuck, counselling can offer the opportunity to explore what's happening, gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and work towards the changes that feel important to you. My aim is to provide a calm, supportive and confidential space where you can be yourself without fear of judgement, feel genuinely heard and valued, and explore whatever is important to you at a pace that feels right.

I'm Jen, a fully qualified counsellor, registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and fully insured to practice. I offer person-centred counselling for adults, young people and children aged 12+. My work is rooted in person-centred values, recognising that you are the expert on your own life. While this forms the foundation of my practice, I also draw thoughtfully on different therapeutic ideas and techniques where they may best support your individual needs. Every client is unique, so I tailor my approach to you, always aiming to provide an open, supportive and ethical service.

I believe people already have the capacity for growth and change, even if it doesn't feel that way right now. My role is to walk alongside you and better help you to understand your experience from your perspective and create the conditions where it can be safely explored. Together, we can develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your experiences and the patterns that may be shaping your thoughts, feelings and relationships. As your self-awareness grows, new possibilities often emerge, helping you to make choices that feel more authentic and aligned with the life you want to live.

I support people experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, low self-esteem, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, identity, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and the lasting impact of difficult life experiences.

I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients, including autistic people and those with ADHD. I strive to provide a neuro-affirming approach where your experiences are understood, respected and valued, and where differences are recognised as part of who you are rather than something that needs to be changed. I also have a growing interest in trauma and the ways our past experiences can influence how we see ourselves, relate to others and experience the world.

Creating an inclusive and affirming environment is central to my work. I welcome people of all backgrounds, cultures, faiths, genders, sexualities and relationship styles, and I'm committed to offering a space where diversity is respected and you feel safe to be yourself.

Alongside my private practice, I have experience supporting children, young people and adults within a community counselling service. Working with people from different backgrounds and at different stages of life has reinforced my belief that meaningful therapy grows from an authentic therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy and acceptance.

I offer online and telephone counselling across the UK, giving you the flexibility to access support wherever you feel most comfortable.

Whatever has brought you here, taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. Finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with is an important part of the process. I hope this has given you a sense of who I am and how I work.

Training, qualifications & experience

Alongside my private practice, I have volunteered for over two years with Bedfordshire Open Door, providing counselling to children and young people aged 13–25. This experience has enabled me to work with a broad range of emotional and psychological difficulties while developing confidence in building therapeutic relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

I have a particular professional interest in neurodivergence and trauma-informed practice. I have completed the CPCAB Level 5 Award in Understanding Neurodivergence and Trauma and am committed to evolving my knowledge through ongoing continuing professional development. I am currently training in Somatic-Informed Therapy, incorporating psychodynamic principles, to further enhance my understanding of the relationship between trauma, the body, and emotional wellbeing.

My continuing professional development includes specialist training and qualifications in autism and neuro-affirming practice, early developmental trauma, complex post-traumatic stress, attachment theory, body dysmorphia, disordered eating, and working therapeutically with depression in young adults. I am committed to lifelong professional learning to ensure my practice remains reflective, evidence-informed, and responsive to the diverse needs of those I support.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
