About me

You look like you're holding it together on the outside. But inside something feels off. You're capable, thoughtful, used to being relied on but you feel anxious, empty, overwhelmed and misunderstood.

Perhaps you’re questioning your direction, identity, or going through a loss or change. You’re worried about how others perceive you and want to understand why you fall back on the same patterns in relationships that lead to frustration, withdrawal or low self-esteem.

You might be living by a set of rules you never consciously wrote and it’s driving self-doubt, guilt, or overthinking to the point you can’t switch off.

Rather than something being “wrong” with you that needs “fixing”, we work to understand what has happened to you and how it influences your life now.

I work with people experiencing these kinds of difficulties and much more. You don’t have to keep feeling stuck or carrying this on your own. Therapy could be the right place to slow down, get curious and make sense of things.

For the most part, awareness and change are gradual, as you begin to notice sides of yourself you may have overlooked before, that could become your strength.

I draw on established and evidence-based therapeutic approaches - person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and neuroscience - depending on what feels most helpful to you.

My approach

I know it can feel daunting to start with a new therapist, especially if you’re new to therapy. My intention is to help you feel safe. I take a neurodiversity affirming, collaborative and down-to-earth approach where nothing about you is “too much”.

Before training in counselling and psychotherapy, I worked in media and communications for over 15 years. In therapy, I try to cut out jargon, put you at ease and explore what it’s like to be you.

Availability

My current availability is for daytime sessions either in-person or online. Evening sessions are full but feel free to contact me to go on my waiting list.

I offer both long and short-term therapy. Sessions last 50 minutes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am particularly interested in grief and loss in all its forms, self-worth and women's life transitions such as career changes, motherhood and perimenopause/menopause.

I have completed academic research into matrescence (the process of becoming a mother) and the conflicting emotions this can bring. This unique time of change physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually, can leave new mothers feeling lost and unprepared. I work with people at all stages of motherhood but if you’re a new mum (first 18 months) I offer reduced fee for online or walk and talk (nap laps!) support. Contact me for more information.
