About me

I believe that, as humans, we are shaped by our relationships from our earliest attachments to our present lives. When relationships break down or fail to give us what we need, this can have a big impact on our sense of self, make our lives difficult and affect our confidence. Counselling offers an opportunity to become more aware of past experiences and patterns of relating that may no longer serve you.

I am a qualified integrative relational counsellor, which enables me to work within a variety of theories and techniques to work with you to support you in finding what has meaning for you as an individual. I provide a safe and confidential, non-judgemental therapeutic space for you to explore what has brought you to this point, working at your own pace. By exploring this together you can gain insight and awareness, looking at underlying issues which will help you uncover repeated patterns of behaviour, and can enable you to create positive changes in your life.

I offer therapy in an affirming way and am committed to work within your own experience of adversity, diversity and relationships to find what is meaningful to you. To work collaboratively, build trust and value your beliefs and core values.

I work with individuals and counselling is offered open-ended, which means that there is no set number of sessions or time limit placed on the work we will do together. However, for the benefit of the development of our relationship, I recommend that you commit to an initial set of at least 6 sessions, with a review at the end. It is important for the counselling to be focused on your needs, at your pace and for as long as you need.

I am available for face to face (in person) counselling, online counselling, and as part of my counselling practice, I also offer a way of working together called Walk and Talk, which takes counselling out of the counselling room and into nature.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Integrative Relational Counsellor and I hold the CPCAB Level 4 Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. A long time ago I completed a degree in Psychology (BSc Hons) and, while previously working for the NHS, completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Studies, through the University of Southampton.

I have been working as a counsellor since 2022. Before retraining as an Integrative Counsellor, I previously worked within NHS mental health services across the South West and Hampshire.

I continue to study and train to expand my experience and knowledge as a counsellor and as a human being. I am currently training for the CPCAB Level 5 Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

I completed Walk and Talk Therapy Training in 2023.

I am a member of the BACP and fully uphold their Ethical Framework and best practice guidance, to provide an ethical and safe therapeutic environment.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
