About me
Hi, my name is Louise and I am a qualified Integrative counsellor and I am a member of the BACP . I am a kind, warm, caring and compassionate person who is easy to talk to and a great listener. I have experience dealing successfully with a wide range of issues including anxiety, autism and neurodiversity , bereavement, depression, self-harm, suicide and suicidal thoughts as well as feelings of low self-esteem, self-worth and general feelings of low mood. Whatever brings you to counselling I can offer you a safe space to talk without any feelings of being judged or being told what to do. Being an integrative counsellor means I will always work in a way which is the best fit for you and at a pace which suits you and your individual needs.
But what can I expect from counselling and am I the right counsellor for you? If you are reading this then you have already made that first step, and sometimes its taking that step that can be the hardest part. Life can sometimes feel a little overwhelming, and finding a way to move forwards may seem impossible. This is where I come in, a warm, caring person who will hold you and your own self experience at the heart of the work we will do together. We will explore your feelings at a pace which suits you, without judgement, or any feelings of being told what to do and I will always strive to walk beside you offering that feeling of safety and being held within our counselling relationship. I have been working as a counsellor for a number of years now and as someone who came into counselling later in life I also bring the added dimension of life experience. I have also overcome my own challenges and I have come to see that we are all individuals who are doing the best we can given the circumstances we find ourselves in. Our first few sessions will be spent looking at the issues that have brought you to counselling, looking at how they are impacting your life, and building our unique and trusting counselling relationship. Once you feel comfortable enough to explore your issues on a deeper level we will do so in such a way as to keep you emotionally safe and without fear of being judged, triggered or feeling as if you aren't being heard or understood.
What can I gain from counselling? Am I just wasting my money? Counselling is the unique opportunity for you to explore and move beyond those issues which are clouding your life in a safe way. To be able to experience a non-judgemental relationship with no agenda other than your best interests and welfare at the heart of it. This unique relationship will be unlike any other you have experienced and if you embrace it you will gain so much from it. For some its that feeling of being truly heard and seen for the first time, or finding that inner strength within yourself that you hadn't realised was there. Or maybe it will be that feeling that you do really matter, that your feelings count and that you start to put value on yourself. Maybe you are looking for ways to move beyond your overwhelming anxiety, or to push beyond the depression that has clouded your life. Or are you needing to deal with a trauma or something that you have been silent about for too long and just don't have the words or the tools to be able to do this. Whatever brings you to seek out a counsellor and whether that be myself or someone else, it can be, if you allow it to be, a truly life changing experience. I will be with you every step of the way and you will find that facing those issues with someone by your side will help you to feel held and supported and maybe not so alone after all.
I can offer short term solution based counselling, help dealing with the here and now issues, or longer more in-depth counselling. Whatever you are seeking help with, whether that be issues from the past or in the present, together we will find a way where you will be able to manage and deal with them and I hope this will give you the chance and clarity to be able to move forwards in your life.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information
I work from a comfortable room in Beltinge which is just outside Herne Bay, there is plenty of parking in the street outside plus it is easily accessible by public transport. I mainly work in a person centred way, but because of the nature of my practice and that I am an integrative counsellor, I will always aim to work in the 'best fit' way which suits you and your individual needs. I am interested in people, and I like to think that because of my own life experiences I can offer you the type of counselling which is not only personal to you, but will hopefully be transformative and change your life in ways you never thought possible. I am continuously updating my skills and learning, I am kind and empathic, I will always put you first and I will walk besides you on your journey without judgement.
