About me
Hello, I'm Louise.
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) working within NHS Talking Therapies. Alongside my NHS role, I provide counselling through New Hope Counselling Service in Stratford-upon-Avon and have previous experience counselling within St Richard's Hospice and Listening Post Counselling Charity.
Over the years I have supported adults experiencing anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, stress, life transitions and emotional overwhelm. I also have considerable experience working with neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD, autism and dyslexia.
Counselling offers a space where you don't have to hold everything together.
Together, we can explore what's happening in your life right now, make sense of patterns that may have been with you for years, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. My aim is not to judge, fix, or tell you what to do, but to help you feel heard, understood, and supported as you find your own way forward.
People often tell me they appreciate my warm, honest and grounded approach. I believe counselling works best when you feel safe enough to be yourself, whether you're facing a specific challenge or simply feeling stuck and unsure where to turn next.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained in Low Intensity CBT at the University of Exeter and hold a Level 4 Diploma in Psychodynamic and Person-Centred Counselling. I am a registered member of both the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies).
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I have worked with both young and adults and older adults in a variety of settings, including agencies, charitable organisations, and private practice. Over the years, I have supported people through a variety of challenges and experiences.
I am particularly passionate about helping clients understand themselves and others more clearly. I offer a supportive space where we can gently explore feelings and behaviours, build self-compassion, and work towards positive change. I also provide guidance and insights to help clients understand their patterns and develop practical strategies for coping with life’s challenges.
I am committed to continuing my professional development, regularly engaging in training, reading, and CPD to enhance my skills and offer the best support to my clients.
If at any point I feel that my experience or approach isn’t the best fit for your needs, I will support you in finding alternative services that are more suitable.
