About me

On the outside; it may seem like you’re doing okay. You’re ’functioning’, but inside it feels very different. You might be constantly comparing yourself to others and feeling like everyone around you is doing more or better than you, you’re struggling to believe in yourself at all, struggle to cope with difficult emotions/ situations when they arise, have a loud inner critic in your head. You may often think ‘I shouldn’t be thinking this way or feeling that way’ and try push these thoughts and feelings away.

You might be an overthinker and anxiety is taking over and holding you back. This is starting to affect your relationships or how you view yourself; you're second guessing yourself, worrying how you’re coming across, or not feeling secure in who you are.

Maybe you’re used to being the supportive one that’s there for everyone else but you don't want to bother people with what you're struggling with. You struggle to be nice to yourself, you feel not good enough which is keeping you stuck and finding it difficult to move forward.

If you’re wanting to talk about a specific issue, wanting to build a better relationship with yourself so you can be your best and authentic version of yourself, you want to get support with understanding your experiences and how they impact you; I can navigate this with you.

We can go at your pace, there is no rush to talk about something you’re not ready to talk about straight away. The aim is for you to feel comfortable, to support you to make sense of things, understand patterns that may be keeping you from moving forward and have that space to feel what you're feeling.

What to expect at the start

I offer a free 15 minute phone call once you enquire.  I know this can be nervewracking to take this first step but it will be informal and a chance for us to have a chat about what's made you decide to start with a counsellor, you can ask any questions if you have any,  I can also explain how my approach works and it will give you a chance to see whether it'll be the right fit for you. There's no obligation to continue if you have this call and decide that it may not be the best fit for you, I want you to be sure that you're getting a counsellor that suits you best!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
