About me

On the outside; it may seem like you’re doing okay but inside it feels very different. Maybe you have low self esteem which creates that loud inner critic in your head, makes it difficult to believe in yourself, you struggle to cope with difficult emotions/ situations. Maybe anxiety and spiralling thoughts are affecting your every day life, your relationships, how you view yourself. You may often think ‘I shouldn’t be thinking this way or feeling that way’ and try avoid difficult feelings by keeping yourself busy.

Maybe you’re used to being the supportive one that’s there for everyone else but feels like a burden to others. You might be comparing yourself to others and feeling like everyone around you is doing more or better than you, which makes you feel not good enough and always feeling like you need to do more. Instead of living in a way that's true to you, you're doing what you 'should' be doing and to meet expectations set by yourself or others.

Whether you’re wanting to talk about a specific issue, wanting to build a more positive and accepting relationship with yourself, you want support with understanding your experiences and how they impact you; I can navigate this with you.

We can go at your pace, there is no rush to talk about something you’re not ready to talk about straight away. The aim is for you to feel comfortable enough to show up as you are, where you don't feel like you need to pretend. I can support you to make sense of what is going on for you, look at patterns that may be keeping you from moving forward and to provide a space to slow down and understand how you are feeling.

What to expect at the start

I offer a free 15 minute phone call once you enquire.  I know this can be nervewracking to take this first step but it will be informal and a chance for us to have a chat about what's made you decide to start with a counsellor, you can ask any questions if you have any,  I can also explain how my approach works and it will give you a chance to see whether it'll be the right fit for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
