About me

Hello, and welcome!

I am Lorraine and I work as an Integrative Relationship Counsellor with a specialism in working with couples. But what you should really, know is that I am a kind and empathic listener, who aims to provide you with a positive experience of counselling.

Counselling can be a powerful way to help you understand what's troubling you. As I believe no two people are the same, I provide tailored counselling support to you, which pulls upon many of the schools of thought in therapy. I achieve this by focusing on building our therapeutic relationship,  getting to know you, your problems and your world. While also being authentic and genuine to who I am.  The types of modalities include CBT, Person-centred, Attachment theory, Psycho-dynamic and many more. I hope this means I can tailor my support to best suit you and the difficulties you are experiencing.

Regardless of what brings you into therapy, you will be warmly welcomed with compassion and understanding into a non-judgemental, safe and confidential space.

You will be heard.

I will work collaboratively with you, to help you understand more about yourself and work through your issues (big or small!), which will hopefully enable you to find new ways to move forward and achieve your goals.

I can support you no matter the length of time you require. All it will require is that you take the first big and powerful step to reach out.

I currently provide face-to-face, online or telephone sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays, in Irvine.

I provide relationship counselling to couples, members of families, friends etc and individuals aged 16+ as well as families.

Family counselling is face-to-face.  Your family will be supported by myself and another family counsellor to help support you navigate the often challenging and complex issues a family can encounter.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
