About me

Hi, I'm Lorelei and thank you for visiting my profile.

My job as a counsellor is to provide a space that is free of judgement, in which you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts, feelings and options at your own pace.

I have a particular interest in trauma and PTSD and am currently doing a master’s degree in this field. There are several stages to working through trauma, which I will talk to you about before we begin.
I am also trained in the rewind technique with the International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy. This is a technique used to stop the involuntary recall of traumatic memories. You do not have to tell me about what happened, but you do have to think about it. If this is something that you would like to try, then please be aware that it requires a minimum of 3 sessions and a free follow up email assessment.

I also work with schools on an adhoc or term contract basis.

Although I have training and experience, you know you better than anyone, so during therapy we work together to help find solutions to problems. This means that we will never do anything or talk about anything that you’re not comfortable with.
The base of my therapy is the person-centred model, which means that I try to understand what things are like for you as fully as I can. I also bring in techniques from other models like CBT, mindfulness and creative therapy if I think they will be helpful for you.

I have a particular interest in birth trauma (mums, dads and anyone who has been affected) and babes in arms are welcome. Generally, it is better if you don’t bring your baby with you because we can’t do therapy if you are needing to attend to him/her. You may also find it uncomfortable talking about certain things or becoming distressed around your child. However, I understand that it’s not always possible to find childcare and being separated from your child can cause unnecessary anxiety.

I am kink friendly and poly/non-monogamy friendly.

I am fully qualified and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), following their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

I usually offer counselling at the Roy Fletcher Centre in the town centre during weekdays but other arrangements can be made if necessary.

It's helpful to let me know a little bit about the problem, even if it's as vague as 'feeling down'. However, if you'd rather wait until the session that's ok too.
