About me

A gentle space to begin
Whether you're struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, boundaries, relationships - or feeling lost, low, stuck, or overwhelmed - I offer a space that's gentle, confidential, and emotionally safe.

Who I am
I’m Lisa — a counsellor offering online therapy across the UK and in-person from Grimsby, DN32. I’m an NCPS Accredited Registrant and Registered Member of the BACP, committed to safe, ethical, and compassionate practice.

How I work
My approach is rooted in person‑centred values, offering a warm, attuned space where you can explore whatever feels heavy, confusing or hard to put into words. I work with sensitivity to the quieter, often unspoken experiences that sit beneath anxiety, low mood, shame, grief and relational strain.

Alongside this foundation, I draw from ACT‑informed principles, supporting you to relate differently to difficult thoughts and emotions, reconnect with your personal values, and gently move toward what matters most in your life. This blends naturally with my way of working: spacious, collaborative and responsive to your pace.

If words don’t come easily, you’re welcome to express yourself in whatever way feels right — through art, music, movement or silence. When helpful, I offer gentle ways to slow down and tune into what’s happening beneath the surface, always guided by what feels supportive for you.

What to expect in sessions
Therapy sessions offer a confidential space that’s entirely yours - free from judgement, pressure, or expectation. I won’t direct the conversation. Instead, I’ll be led by you - by what feels important, what feels difficult, and what feels ready to be spoken. There’s no right way to begin and no need to prepare. You’re welcome to arrive exactly as you are.

I provide a safe, respectful environment where you feel genuinely heard. I may gently reflect observations that seem helpful, always with care and sensitivity, to support you in making sense of your experience. By being fully present and responsive to what you’re feeling and expressing, I support you in exploring your thoughts and emotions at your pace.

This collaborative process can foster greater self-awareness, emotional clarity, and the potential for meaningful, positive change.

What we might explore
I can support you with the emotional layers that often sit beneath anxiety, low mood, grief, and relational difficulties. I work gently with shame, guilt, and low self-esteem - and the deeper emotional experiences they often protect. Together, we explore these places with empathy, acceptance, and authenticity.

What clients say
These reflections are shared with permission, offering a glimpse into how therapy with me can feel.

I felt so relaxed and safe. I was struggling with my feelings, and you helped me put them into perspective. Afterwards, I felt a weight lifted. It’s like you had a magic wand.”

Lisa created a space where I felt completely safe to open up and be honest about what I was feeling. She’s helped me understand my emotions, work through my trauma, and start to see myself with more kindness and hope.”

What I appreciate most about Lisa is her genuine care - she listens without judgement and always seems to know how to guide me forward.”

Curious to learn more or ready to begin?
If you’d like to find out more, you’re warmly invited to visit my website, or contact me directly by email or WhatsApp. You can book a free introductory call on my website, or simply click the 'Book intro call' button at the top of this profile.

Introductory sessions are a gentle invitation to connect, offered by telephone or video call. It’s a space for you to ask questions, share what’s bringing you to counselling, and get a feel for how I work. There’s no pressure to commit - just time to explore whether working together feels right for you.

We won’t go deep into your story here. Instead, we’ll focus on what matters to you now, what you’re hoping for, and how I might support you. Whether you’re feeling uncertain, curious, or ready to start therapy, this session is yours - to arrive as you are and to be met with warmth, respect, and care.

Professional standards
I’m an NCPS Accredited Registrant and Registered Member of the BACP, committed to safe, ethical, and compassionate practice.

Community and compassion
Alongside my private practice, I volunteer as a counsellor with two local charities - supporting unpaid carers and individuals facing homelessness.

I’m also a mother, carer, and home educator, which continues to shape my understanding of emotional resilience, relational dynamics, and the complexity of everyday life.

Lived experience
I bring lived experience of pain, trauma, and mental health challenges - and I hold this with care, humility, and professional boundaries.

These experiences inform my practice with empathy and authenticity, helping me meet clients with genuine understanding and emotional safety.

Clinical experience
My experience includes working with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem in NHS Talking Therapies, and supporting clients navigating chronic illness, substance use, trauma, relationship difficulties, and grief.

Therapeutic interests
As well as meditation and mindfulness, I have a particular interest in inner child work and the ways early experiences shape how we relate to ourselves and others. I am also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration.
