About me

You may have spent a long time coping on the outside while feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsettled on the inside. Perhaps past experiences still affect you day to day, or you find yourself overthinking, masking, or feeling emotionally exhausted without fully understanding why. You might know that something needs attention, but feel unsure where to begin.

I’m Lisa, an experienced and BACP-accredited integrative counsellor. I work with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, emotional overwhelm, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties. I also have extensive experience supporting neurodivergent clients and people who have lived through complex or distressing experiences.

Alongside my private practice, I have worked across a wide range of settings, including the NHS, services supporting survivors of sexual abuse, neurodiversity-focused organisations, prisons, and educational environments. This breadth of experience has shaped a grounded, compassionate way of working that recognises how past experiences, environments, and relationships can deeply influence how we cope, relate, and see ourselves.

In our sessions, you will be met with warmth, empathy, and respect. There is no pressure to talk about anything before you’re ready. I offer a calm, supportive space where you can explore whatever feels important to you, at your own pace, without judgement or expectation.

How I work

My approach is gentle, collaborative, and trauma-informed. As an integrative therapist, I draw from neurodiversity-affirming and CBT-informed approaches, adapting our work to suit your individual needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all model.

I work by listening deeply and helping you notice patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Together, we may explore where certain feelings or reactions began, including the impact of earlier life experiences, and how these continue to affect you now. Gaining understanding in this way can bring clarity, self-compassion, and a greater sense of choice.

Counselling offers a unique relationship that is separate from the expectations of everyday life. This can allow you to speak openly and honestly, perhaps in ways you haven’t been able to elsewhere. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to support you in understanding yourself more fully and finding ways forward that feel right for you.

If you’re considering counselling and wondering whether I might be the right therapist for you, you’re welcome to get in touch to ask any questions or arrange an initial session.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
