About me

Whatever has brought you to therapy, I am here to listen, and to let you know how proud you can be of taking this courageous first step towards accessing support and promoting growth and understanding of yourself.

I offer an empathic and non-judgemental space to help you unravel issues, acknowledge and work through difficult emotions, and support you towards gaining clarity and experiencing personal growth and change.

Sometimes, our emotions can be overwhelming, and a space is needed to explore these and talk things through, to feel less isolated within this. Sometimes, difficult past experiences, or current, stressful and upsetting life events, require this space for reflection, to allow you to emotionally process and come to terms with what has happened. Sometimes, we just need to feel seen and heard, and to know that we can safely release those unexpressed words, and emotions, that linger beneath the surface.

I offer this therapeutic space, and a kind and caring counselling relationship where I will encourage you to be yourself. Within this, I will listen and truly hear you, whilst using all of my skills to work collaboratively with you to support your growth and emotional wellbeing.

As I understand the importance of choosing a therapist you can connect with, I offer a free telephone call after an initial enquiry, to assess your therapy needs and to see how we could work together. I look forward to hearing from you and to helping you start your counselling journey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

For face to face therapy, I work from two locations in Hull and East Yorkshire, so you've got options! Please find more details below of the spaces that are available to you.

Hull, HU8: I work from the private therapy rooms within The Ellesmere Centre for Psychotherapy on Holderness Road, which is on a well-connected bus route in East Hull. Here, there is a waiting area, a free car park and on-street parking. Toilet facilities and refreshments are also available to clients.

Skirlaugh, HU11: The therapy room available in the village of Skirlaugh is comfortable and spacious and provides lots of natural light. The clinic has a waiting area, free on-site parking, toilet facilities, and tea/coffee are also available on request. If walk and talk therapy is more your thing, then here we are also spoiled with an outdoor space for therapy as well, where various animals may also be spotted, including alpacas and donkeys.

Online Therapy: I also work online nationally via a secure video-link. Having therapy online may be due to preference or convenience, and I am pleased to offer this to help you to build your therapy and self-care into your weekly schedule and to expand accessibility when life requires that bit more flexibility.

I currently have availability on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Please enquire to see if I can meet your needs.
