About me
I am a warm, compassionate, BACP accredited counsellor offering you a safe space to talk freely about whatever is troubling you without fear of judgement. This can really help to make sense of your feelings, gain new perspectives and move forward in your life. I have experience of working with adults to address a range of issues including anxiety, ADHD, depression, addiction, bereavement, low self-esteem, OCD perfectionism, procrastination, relationship struggles, people pleasing, co-dependency, trauma and stressful work situations.
I aim to developing a genuine, trusting relationship so that you feel heard, understood and accepted allowing you to develop a more compassionate view of yourself. Having established this connection we can explore how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are creating your experience of the world and help you to build the self-awareness that will allow you to identify what needs to change.
My approach is underpinned by person centred theory which I adapt to meet your unique needs by drawing on various humanistic counselling theories to support you in better understanding yourself to overcome your challenges and build a more authentic and satisfying life. Every counselling experience is unique you may want to meet for a few sessions to manage a specific issue or to continue meeting for longer to explore your issues in more depth. We will regularly review our work together so that you can decide whether we are still meeting your counselling needs.
I work in person in Guildford and Farnham, if you would like to explore whether my approach might work for you, please get in touch to arrange a free, 30 minute initial phone call. We can talk about what is troubling you and your hopes for counselling and you can decide whether you would like to start working together

Training, qualifications & experience
Training and qualifications
I trained as a humanistic counsellor at the Metanoia Institute in London, my qualifications are;
• Diploma in Humanistic counselling (Metanoia institute, London)
• BSc (Hons) in humanistic counselling (University of Middlesex)
• MSc psychology (University of Surrey)
Experience
Discovering my neurodivergence late in life prompted me to pursue a long-standing interest in human wellbeing by retraining as a humanistic counsellor. My experience of balancing work as a veterinary surgeon and animal health researcher with raising a family prior to receiving this diagnosis has given me a deeper understanding of some of the challenges that my clients might face.
Before working in private practice, I volunteered in a number of settings;
- Anxiety and depression self-help group facilitator (Cornerhouse, Woking)
- Bereavement support worker (Cruse Bereavement Care, Guildford)
- Volunteer counsellor (MCPS counselling service, London)
- Volunteer counsellor (University of Surrey Centre for wellbeing, Guildford)
- Volunteer counsellor (The Eaves low-cost counselling service, Guildford)
As a BACP accredited counsellor I have met their higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner. I adhere to their code of ethics and undertake regular training to keep up to date with developments in counselling approaches. I also attend regular supervision with an experienced counsellor to ensure that I provide the best possible service to my clients.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
