About us

Journey is a counselling service that is based in the building of the LifeCentre in Manchester. It has a Christian Worldview that seeks to care and support clients where they are in a way that is helpful for them and empathic with no agenda. It seeks to help empower the client and help them move forward. The work will seek to be affordable for all clients. Assessments will be done face to face or on Zoom whichever is appropriate and more helpful for the client. Currently, there is limited evening appointments Face to Face but we are online. Appointments can be offered 9-5pm. Sessions are £20-£40 for individuals income dependent and £40-£60 for couples. There is no child provision for counselling. There are a team of qualified counsellors in Person centred and CBT as well as couples counselling. There are a couple of student trainee placements as well. Our heart is to work with local GPs and other local services to support our community in Manchester and make counselling accessible to all and affordable.

Training, qualifications & experience

All our qualified counsellors have at least a Diploma in Counselling or equivalent. Some of the counsellors are training doing their 100 hours as part of their counselling courses and others have a range of multiple courses and further training over the years since they qualified.

All counsellors are ACC (Association of Christian Counsellors) or BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) registered. Some are accredited in one or both of those Bodies.

We work Person centred, CBT or couples counselling or integrative as well as Christian if required or wanted.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
