About us

COVID-19 update: we offer a 30 minute FREE initial telephone consultation and can negotiate low cost fees for further telephone or video call sessions. Please get in touch!

If ‘Life is ten percent what we experience and ninety percent how we respond to it’ and “The worst loneliness is to not be comfortable with ourselves” then it makes sense to take a closer look at how we are managing things when life is feeling difficult or overwhelming. This seems particularly relevant in the current global situation we are living in.

Counselling offers you a safe space to take that closer look, considering different ways of understanding and responding to your experiences and finding useful ways to manage strong emotions and body sensations. It can be very powerful even in a short period of time.

We can use many different approaches to tailor the sessions to your needs. We will listen, ask questions and offer you some ideas to encourage different ways of looking at a situation. We might also give you some information or point you to sources of help about specific issues that might be useful for you. Most importantly, we will do so in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space.

Training, qualifications & experience

We are a team of fully qualified, insured and experienced Counsellors and Psychotherapists who have each been practising for over 25 years. We are all trained in our own modalities of counselling and also have further training in other approaches. These include person-centred counselling, psychodynamic counselling, systemic therapy, coaching, online counselling, Brainspotting and cognitive behaviour therapy. This means we will be able to draw on a variety of skills and ideas in finding the best way to support you.

We can provide long term or brief focused counselling, regular weekly sessions or flexible appointment times and frequency.

We can also provide supervision to trainee and qualified Counsellors.

We work from two different venues. The one in Brighton is just off the Lewes Road and the one in Hove is in Hangleton, by the A23/A27 & Devil's Dyke roundabout, easy free street parking.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
