About me

Hello, I'm Libby. I am a BACP and UKCP registered existential psychotherapist and counsellor based in Notting Hill, London.

Whether you feel you are feeling overwhelmed or you are simply looking for a quiet space to reflect, I aim to provide a warm, relaxed and confidential environment for you to consider your life, your feelings, what is important to you and how you might want to move forward.

My job is to listen to you with compassion, openness and curiosity and to help you come to a better understanding of yourself and your situation.

I try not offer fixed ideas or advice; I want to give you the space to be exactly who you are and to respect the particularity of your situation. Instead we work collaboratively to come to a better understanding of your difficulties. Together we may notice patterns in thoughts and behaviours, make connections to the past and gently challenge ways of being that no longer serve you.  Therapy is also a space for you to simply be. Without expectation. And see what comes up

I may invite you to slow down and focus on your moment-to-moment embodied responses in order to foster a deep and vital connection with your lived experience. To take you out of your head and into your body's wisdom.

Sharing your story, thoughts and feelings, and allowing yourself to be truly seen by a trained professional, fosters healing, growth, self compassion and self-understanding.  It helps you to become more responsive and less reactive.  It's a powerful process, a journey that cannot help but change us both, and it is my privilege to be alongside you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling as well as an Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy, both from Regent's University London.

I am a registered member of the BACP, as well as the UKCP and abide by their codes of ethics.

I have worked in a number of charitable organisations, including Kingston Women’s Centre and the Centre for Better Health in Hackney, as well as private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
