About me

A little about me.

I have lived a life wearing many hats, experienced highs and lows while on my journey and understand more will follow. I have interests which include music, cooking, sport, walking and photography but sometimes struggle to find the motivation to keep up with them. As part of my ongoing mental health well being, I volunteer weekly with some local organisations and try to exercise daily.

I offer one to one, person-centred therapy sessions either in a confidential face to face settings or via online video services. Sessions are bookable in advance, looking to find a viable solution for each client’s needs.

I look to provide a safe therapeutic environment for all clients. To respect client’s confidentiality, ensuring that the therapy sessions are confidential, and providing a secure environment for clients to share openly. Offering a supportive space, designed to be welcoming and comfortable, promoting a sense of safety and relaxation.

Offering non-directive counselling, working with clients without judgement or criticism, offering consistent support, valuing the client as they are. To encourage clients to explore and express their true selves without fear of rejection. Working together to build a trusting relationship with the client, is essential for effective therapy.

Looking to facilitate self-exploration as well as self-discovery focused on exploring emotions. Clients are encouraged to delve into their emotions and experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of themselves.

To promote personal growth and self-acceptance. Working together to empower clients to take charge of their own lives, fostering a sense of self-efficacy and confidence. Allowing clients to learn to develop self-compassion and acceptance, which can lead to improved self-esteem and well-being.

Working together to enhance the client’s coping skills including stress management, where clients are guided in developing effective coping strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and other emotional challenges. As well as helping clients enhance their problem-solving abilities, enabling them to navigate life's difficulties more effectively.

Supporting life transitions, supporting clients through significant life transitions such as career changes, relationship issues, grief, and personal crises. Offering clients help in adjusting to new life circumstances and working with them, towards finding a path forward.

Helping to facilitate improved relationships, working on areas including; interpersonal skills, assisting clients in developing better communication and relationship skills. Conflict resolution, looking at strategies for resolving conflicts and improving their interactions with others. Helping clients understand their emotions, to gain a better understanding of their own and others' emotions. Looking at possible techniques for managing and regulating emotions in a healthy way.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
