About me
Hello, I'm Lesley, an Integrative, person-centred counsellor, this means I use my experience of multiple theories to provide a personalised way of working which suits your individual needs.
Life doesn't always turn out the way we imagined. sometimes we find ourselves struggling with experiences, relationships or feelings that are difficult to make sense of. Perhaps you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from who you used to be. I provide somewhere you can safely explore all of this; you can say out loud, the thing you've been carrying for a while. I believe that being genuinely heard and accepted can be a powerful starting point for change.
Whatever has brought you here, I'd like you to know that you don't need to have the right words, a clear explanation or even a particular goal before we begin; i don't need a polished version of you, just as you are is where we'll start.
I offer a warm, compassionate space where you can talk openly and be yourself. Using a person-centred approach means we will work at a pace set by you, I will never push you to talk about something you're not ready to explore. That's what is meant by a safe space; it's a place to be yourself with someone who will guide you through any discomfort and do so without judgement.
I practice in a neuroaffirming way and welcome clients with a diagnosis or self diagnosis of ADHD and Autism, I recognise not everyone has the same way of communicating or processing emotions.
The therapeutic relationship you build with any counsellor you choose, is really important to your progress. With that in mind, please feel free to contact me to arrange a free 20 minute call to see if i'm the counsellor for you. The call itself is a chance to get a feel for how I work, if you're nervous or anxious, don't worry, i'll guide you through the process. There's no hard sell or need to make a decision there and then.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
My areas of interest include anxiety, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, childhood trauma, attachment patterns, High control group/cult survival.
I also have experience supporting individuals who have experienced domestic abuse, I appreciate this is a complex issue, we'll work together to unravel the threads and rebuild a life you recognise and a mind that feels like your own.
Alongside my professional work, I have experience of a later in life diagnosis of ADHD, I understand the grief that comes with this and the influence this has on life choices and relationships; we'll work together to gently unmask and discover the person underneath the survival tools you've relied on for so long.
I welcome clients from all backgrounds and identities and am an ally to the LGBTQ+ community.
