About me
Hello, I’m Leanne, a qualified psychodynamic counsellor offering a warm, peaceful and non-judgemental space for us to make sense of whatever has brought you to therapy. This may be anxiety, depression, OCD, low self-esteem, problems with family, relationships, or painful childhood experiences. Starting counselling may feel difficult but my priority is for you to feel comfortable so that we can work together in a way that feels safe, respectful and collaborative.
How can counselling help me?
I work psychodynamically, which means we will gently explore how your past experiences may be shaping your present thoughts, feelings, and relationships. Our sessions provide space for us to look together at the patterns in your life, thoughts, and behaviours, helping you to understand yourself more deeply. Over time, this process can support greater insight, increased self-awareness, and meaningful, lasting change.
Is counselling right for me?
People come to counselling for many reasons. Some of my clients feel anxious, low, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck. Others seek support with specific challenges such as relationship difficulties, work-related stress, or feelings of loneliness and isolation. I also work with people who are living with, or supporting someone with, physical or mental illness.
Whatever you are facing, you will have a safe, confidential space that is just for you - somewhere we can think together about what is happening, make sense of your experiences, and explore ways of coping with the emotional impact.
Can I have an initial discussion?
Yes. If you are considering working with me, please get in touch by email or message. We can arrange a free introductory call (online or by phone) to discuss your questions, consider how counselling may help, and explore how best to work together.
Where does counselling take place?
I offer sessions in calm, welcoming rooms in both Hove (BN3) and Brighton (BN1), whichever is more convenient for you. I provide short-term therapy (six or twelve weeks) as well as open-ended, longer-term work, available in person, online, or by telephone.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
