About me

Are you struggling with everyday life and find yourself masking and pretending everything is okay, when in real life it’s not? Are your relationships with those around you difficult or distant? Do you find yourself working hard to keep things running smoothly, but left overwhelmed, emotionally drained and wondering 'why me'? I am a fully qualified and Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I offer a safe therapeutic space where I promote healing from difficult life events, past trauma or strained or absent family relationships (family estrangement).

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified as Masters level and undertake regular and up-to-date career professional development (CPD) training. My approach is compassionate and non-judgemental; I am trauma-informed which means we look at trauma or difficulties experienced in a way that can help you move forward, promoting long term healing and resilience. I help clients establish where they feel safe and secure, understand why they react how they do, process past experiences, manage emotional triggers and develop practical tools for change. You’ll build resilience, establish healthy boundaries and cultivate meaningful relationships. Together, we’ll move you from surviving to thriving.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

You may be here because you have lost your sense of self, you have experienced challenging life events, transitions, trauma or you have dysfunctional relationship dynamics that are becoming unbearable. The impact of this can be huge. Consequently, it can have long term effects on your physical and mental health, relationships and your work or caring responsibilities. You don't have to endure this alone, I know how isolating it can be when you when you feel different to those around you, not fitting in or living up to what society deems normal. You may look fine to the outside world, but on the inside you are hurting and desperate for something to change.

I have worked with individuals from a range of diverse backgrounds in race, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation (LGBTQ+), religion, disability, neurodiversity and cultural identity. Alongside private practice I am a long standing Associate Counsellor of a charity that specialises in childhood sexual abuse, sexual violence and domestic abuse.
