About me

Hi, I'm Laura. I’m a qualified integrative counsellor, which means I work in a flexible way and adapt how I work to suit you. I draw on a range of therapeutic ideas to support each person as an individual. My work brings together humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive, and existential perspectives.

In practice, this means I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s going on for you at your own pace. We might look at your current experiences and emotions, as well as how past relationships, familiar patterns, or questions about meaning and direction could be influencing your present. Our work together is collaborative and flexible, with the aim of supporting insight, growth, and lasting change.

I offer space for reflection, curiosity, and honesty, and encourage clients to go where the work needs to go - gently, but with courage. Over time, this can support a deeper trust in your own resilience, greater self-understanding, and a stronger sense of agency in your life.

My approach is shaped by a deep understanding of how life experiences can affect us emotionally and relationally. I work with care, sensitivity, and respect for the complexity of each person’s unique story.

Training, qualifications & experience

Level 6 Diploma in Integrative Counselling - Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust

Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy

Online and Telephone Counselling Certification

As well as working in my private practice, I am currently a volunteer counsellor for BCU Life Skills Centre, a local charity that provides a variety of services to those who are at a crossroads in their lives or experiencing disadvantage.

I have also counselled at a higher education institution, supporting young adults with issues around anxiety, academic, peer and familial pressures as well as feelings of isolation and low self esteem.

Prior to qualifying as a counsellor, I worked for many years in an acute NHS hospital in a non-clinical capacity, supporting senior nursing staff within the Intensive Care Unit.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
