About me

I am a warm, approachable counsellor, offering a safe, supportive space for you to explore whatever challenges are going on for you right now.

I offer one-to-one counselling for adults (18+):

  •  In-person from a comfortable, private space in Haslemere
  •  Online via Zoom or telephone (you can be located anywhere in the UK)

We all go through difficult periods of time, which can show up as anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, low mood, or feeling stuck. You may be navigating challenging life circumstances or simply have a sense that something doesn’t feel quite right for you in life at the moment.

In my counselling sessions, I provide a safe space that is just for you to pause and connect with yourself and how you're really feeling. Talking your situation through with someone who will really listen to you, without any judgement, can help you develop clarity and a sense of how to move forward, in a way that feels right for you.

What can I help with?

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, stress, grief, and low mood.

Maybe you’re:

  • Having difficulties in your relationships/family dynamics
  • Navigating a separation or divorce
  • Struggling with work pressures/juggling life outside of work
  • Finding it hard to move on from past events or trauma
  • Experiencing illness and age-related issues

Some people come to counselling with a clear reason or purpose they want to work through. For others, the issues begin to unfold over time. Sometimes it’s hard to know what is really bothering us until we feel comfortable to start talking and opening up.

My counselling approach

My counselling work is focused on the relationship I establish with my clients. I do my best to create an environment that feels calm, trusting, respectful, and accepting for us to work within. I believe that you know yourself best and have the knowledge and potential to transform your life; you just need the right space to feel comfortable to talk and be listened to, in order to free yourself from whatever is holding you back.

Next steps

If you would like to work with me, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call before booking your first counselling session. This gives us an opportunity to talk about where you’re at and what you’re looking for from counselling. I will tell you a bit more about myself and the way that I work. It’s also a chance for you to ensure that the support I offer feels like the right fit for you. There is no obligation to continue afterwards.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked for 20+ years in magazine publishing and the charity sector, predominantly running support services and mentoring schemes for charity leaders. This gave me huge insight into the pressures of work environments, alongside the day-to-day difficulties we are all experiencing in work and home life.

I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate for Adults and Children registered on the Update Service, and my practice is GDPR compliant.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
