About me

Hello, I’m Kyrena, a BACP registered integrative therapist and psychosynthesis counsellor with many years of experience working with grief, depression, childhood trauma and bereavement. I am passionate about my work and aim to offer a warm and nurturing space where you can safely share all your thoughts, feelings and experiences, and explore what is true for you and what is at odds – in your life, your relationships, and your way of being in the world – with how you feel inside. I see clients at practice rooms in Montpellier, Redland and BS1, or online.

As an integrative therapist with a background in psychology, I draw on a variety of approaches, working creatively to tailor our sessions to your unique needs. Together we will explore the roots of your current struggles, identify the patterns that affect your life, and get to know all the parts that make up who you are. I trained in psychosynthesis and start from the premise that everyone has an inner wisdom calling them to personal truth and authenticity. I believe that therapy, by providing a safe space in which to experiment with new ways of thinking, feeling and being, can unlock the blocks to this healing drive and awaken its potential.

I’m aware that it’s hard to know, from an online profile, who will be a good fit for your journey. So I offer a free initial 20-minute online (or phone) session for us to meet each other. It’s an opportunity for you to tell me a bit about yourself, your hopes for therapy and any concerns you might have, and for us both to get an idea of how it would be to work together. If you would like to arrange this, or want to know more about my background and the way I work, please get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling, a Masters in Psychology, and am the author of several books on child development. I worked for many years as a volunteer supporting children and adults experiencing bereavement and terminal illness, and alongside my private practice I continue to volunteer as a therapist for a charity in Bristol. I am also currently undergoing further training in Ecotherapy, and offer the option of walking therapy to those who would feel more at ease out in the open.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
