About me

I am a qualified and HCPC registered Art psychotherapist and EMDR therapist with many years of experience providing therapeutic support to adults, children, and adolescents experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. Through my work, I have helped clients overcome challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and more.

I offer a safe and non-judgemental therapeutic space where you can gain a deeper understanding of your emotions and thoughts, develop greater self-awareness, and move forward with strengthened inner resources and resilience.

In my private practice, I work with both young people and adults. My therapeutic work incorporates art therapy and EMDR.

Training, qualifications & experience

Biography

I was born in Zagreb in 1979. Originally trained as a graphic designer, in 2009 I decided to leave my career in graphic design and travelled to Kenya, where I spent a year volunteering with children in a small local school and at the Wema Centre for street children.

This experience marked an important turning point in my life and led me towards a career in psychotherapy. In 2010, I enrolled in the MA in Art Psychotherapy at the University of Roehampton in London, graduating in 2012.

During my training, I gained experience working in a therapeutic community for adults with a range of mental health difficulties, as well as supporting children who had experienced abuse and neglect.

After qualifying, I joined the UK National Health Service (NHS), where I spent seven years working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). My work included clinical settings, schools, and specialist services supporting children and young people living in foster care and residential care through South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

Recognising the significant impact of trauma on the children, young people, and families I worked with, I undertook further training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), completing my training in 2017. Since then, EMDR has remained an integral part of my therapeutic practice.

My clinical experience also includes working with young refugees and asylum seekers, supporting foster carers, consulting with social workers, and delivering training on therapeutic parenting.

Today, in my private practice, I work with both adults and young people, integrating art psychotherapy and EMDR according to each client's individual needs. I am also undertaking further training in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.

Further information

Art Therapy

Art therapy uses creative expression as the primary method for exploring the inner world, expressing emotions, and communicating with the therapist. It offers an alternative form of communication in situations where words may not adequately convey our experiences.

The aims of Art therapy include supporting personal growth and development, as well as facilitating changes in established patterns of negative thinking through the creative process of making art. Art therapy can be particularly helpful for children and adults who find it difficult to talk about their feelings and thoughts, or who do not feel comfortable with more verbally based forms of therapy.

EMDR Therapy

The aim of EMDR therapy is to help process and reduce the emotional distress associated with traumatic memories from the past. This can lead to relief from current symptoms, a more positive sense of self, improved relationships with others, and greater resilience to potential triggers in the future.

EMDR has demonstrated clinical effectiveness in treating symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as a range of other difficulties arising from distressing or overwhelming life experiences.

Throughout the therapeutic process, the therapist supports the client in accessing and activating their own natural capacity for healing. Unlike some forms of talk therapy, EMDR does not require the client to share every detail of a distressing or traumatic event with the therapist.
