About me

As a psychodynamic counsellor, you will find my approach is supportive, reflective and grounded in the belief that our early experiences shape how we relate to ourselves and to others. In our sessions, we will explore your present-day challenges and the unconscious dynamics that might be influencing them.

I find this approach works particularly well to help with anxiety, stress, depression and low-mood. It also helps to uncover the underlying issues with relationship problems and attachment patterns, as well as family issues and childhood trauma.

Whatever might be bringing you to seek counselling, remember that needing therapy doesn't mean that something is wrong with you - it means that being human can be hard, and we all deserve support as we navigate the hard times. Counselling with me isn't about quick fixes, it about developing insight, self-compassion and meaningful, lasting change - whatever that might look like for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

My clients come to me with differing challenges - from general anxiety to grief, parenting challenges to coping with trauma. I work with adults who need support through life's tougher moments, whatever they may be.

Perhaps you are having difficulties with in an abusive relationship, are burnt out from work challenges, or struggling with fidelity. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to support you and help guide you through whatever it may be that is causing you distress.

I also work with clients who have more complex circumstances and I am experienced in working with clients who manage chronic conditions such as Bipolar Disorder, ME (CFS), Eating Disorders, or live with Autism Spectrum Condition, ADHD or OCD.

Whether you are seeking support with a specific life challenge, dealing with anxiety, or simply feeling stuck, counselling can help you to make sense of life's challenges, and hopefully overcome them. You may not even know what you need yet, and that’s okay – many people start in the same place. The important thing to remember is that you don’t have to navigate it alone. When you are ready, I am here. Contact me for a free initial conversation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer therapy to any UK-based adult and I am committed to creating a confidential, non-judgmental environment where every client feels valued and supported. Counselling sessions are available in person, in my therapy room in Royston town centre, or via telephone or video call.

I strongly believe that counselling should be accessible to everyone seeking support, regardless of background or circumstances, which is why I offer face to face or online sessions and offer concessionary rates. Please contact me to find out more.

Everyone's experience of therapy is unique, and different counselling approaches offer different kinds of support. The psychodynamic model can be deeply insightful, but might not align with what every person is looking for. If you are unsure what might work best for you, we can explore this together and find an approach that feels right.
