About me

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. (MBACP). I have my own private practice where I offer long and short term counselling, psychotherapy and CBT in person to clients aged 16 plus from safe, confidential and comfortable therapy rooms in Henley on Thames.

I have a very warm, empathic and supportive counselling style. First and foremost I am a relational therapist which means I place the client-counsellor relationship at the centre of the therapeutic work. I take an integrative approach to therapy which means I am able to draw on a number of different counselling theories and techniques in order to meet my clients wherever they may be and support them in the best way possible for their particular therapeutic needs. This allows me to combine aspects of person-centred counselling which looks at how things affect us in the present with psychodynamic therapy which involves making links with past events and relationships. Counselling is confidential and collaborative and clients always have full autonomy over the direction, pace and duration of their therapeutic journey.

I am currently taking on a limited number of new CBT clients. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a scientific therapeutic approach which works on the basis that our thoughts (cognitions), behaviours, emotions and bodily sensations are all interconnected. In CBT we work together to explore our negative thought patterns, maintaining behaviours and core beliefs and to challenge them in a number of ways to prevent them from working against us and to create new and more helpful thought patterns.

I work with a number of emotional and psychological difficulties including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, bereavement, panic, social anxiety, OCD, phobias, self harm and suicidal ideation and also in providing emotional support to clients as they navigate challenging transition and life stages.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
