About me

Hello and welcome, my name is Kayleigh and I am an integrative therapist meaning I use a combination of Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Creative therapy and Person-centred therapy. I bend and flex to how you work to work alongside you. I believe that every person is unique and so should their therapy be.

I abide by the BACP ethical framework, and I believe and adhere to the ethical framework. One of the fundamental aspects of counselling is to work with a therapist that feels compassionate, empathic, curious and supportive. I believe in these deeply.

We start by getting to know each other building a foundation of trust which aids the collaborative process. In counselling we can explore thoughts, emotions and behaviours around current, past or future events which may be impacting you, processing and reflecting on how this affects you and navigating them in a way which suits you.
I have spent time working within the charity sector and have experience in a variety of specialised areas including anxiety, depression, sexual violence and related trauma. I believe this has enhanced my empathy and importance of your safety especially working with trauma.

Effective therapy is about working with you to find strategies which will not only help short term but will also provide you resources you can use throughout your life. Building resilience and self-esteem, I strive to create a space where all feelings are welcome no matter how uncomfortable or painful.

Practice description

I offer a space for you to explore through talk and creative therapies which are tailored to your needs.

Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, sexual violence, trauma, self-esteem issues or PTSD I am here to work with you to find strategies and support you with your needs, in a way which feels safe and comfortable for you.

The first session

I am aware this can feel daunting accessing therapy so therefore in the initial session we start by getting to know each other, which helps in building the therapeutic relationship which enables and encourages effective counselling. We can also cover the counselling agreement ensuring we both understand the arrangements and boundaries of the sessions as well as exploring your goals and expectations of therapy, ensuring I work at your pace and to what you want.

We will regularly review how the therapy is going for you and when you feel ready, we can work towards an end. This means you have the choice to work with me for as long or as little as you need.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
