About me

Hello, I’m Kay

Does life feel like a struggle right now? Do you feel like you're having to put a happy face on when you're crumbling on the inside, not knowing which way to turn? Are you struggling in your relationships, are you finding work difficult, do you feel anxious and are constantly worrying or are things that happened  in your past affecting you now?.  Well, I want to tell you that you are not alone. Therapy was a major turning point in my own life, and I aim to offer you that same supportive experience and, just as life doesn’t always follow a straight line, neither does therapy. Whether you are seeking support for yourself or for your child, navigating your own identity, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the weight of daily life, I am here to help you find a way through.

An Approach That Fits You

As an Integrative Counsellor I believe that there is not a "one-size-fits-all" approach. I offer a listening ear if that is what you need. I'll talk to you about how you're feeling and 'walk alongside you' as we navigate a way through. If you want to look at previous life experiences and issues you have faced and  work on some strategies  to help you avoid repeating patterns that have felt difficult for you to break free from in the past,  then we can look at that too.

All this means is that I work flexibly, drawing on different therapeutic techniques that I have in my toolbox to meet you exactly where you are. My absolute aim is to build a warm, genuine relationship where you feel safe enough to be your authentic self.

Who I Work With

I work with clients of all ages, both male and female and also provide supportive, affirming services for LGBTQ+ individuals, including trans, non‑binary, and gender‑diverse people.

I provide a calm, patient space to explore:

  • Emotional Wellbeing: Working through anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.
  • Identity & Self: Navigating confusion around who you are and where you fit in.
  • Diverse Needs: I am Neurodiverse aware (Autism/ADHD) and Deaf aware, with qualifications in Sign Language.
  • While these are all parts of my toolkit, my priority is always you as an individual.

How I Help

My goal is to help you understand your experiences without you feeling that you are being judged. Whether we are working through a specific crisis or exploring long-standing patterns, I provide a confidential environment where your voice is the most important one in the room. I am here to listen, to understand your world from your perspective, and to help you find the clarity to make choices that lead to a happier life.

Professional Standards

I am a qualified therapist and a Registered Member of the BACP. This means I work to a professional code of ethics, ensuring your wellbeing and safety are at the heart of everything we do.

Practicalities

I know that life is busy, so I offer flexible appointment times, including day and evening sessions, to make prioritising your mental health as accessible as possible.

Client Feedback

“The best part of it was the face to face counselling I got from Kay that got me back on my feet mentally.. She has made me whole again ..I would definitely recommend her highly.”

If you feel we might be a good fit, please get in touch. You can arrange a call back and we can have a free 15 minute introductory session on the phone or online.

I offer concessions for Students and those on benefits.  We can discuss an ongoing fee structure at the end of that introductory session if you choose to go ahead with therapy. I want to ensure we develop a plan, so your financial position is not a barrier to accessing therapy.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a fully qualified therapist and a registered Member with the BACP with Diploma, Under and Post Graduate academic awards, I am committed to providing the highest standard of support.

I believe in ongoing professional development to maintain my skills and knowledge. Regular Supervision and training allow me to offer you the best possible support.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
