About me
I am passionate about people and it would be my privilege to support you through your personal journey, helping you to build resilience and improving your mental health and wellbeing and by giving you the tools to make the changes. I am primarily a person-centred therapist, which means I always put you, my client at the centre of our sessions. I am here to listen without judgment. I feel humbled to help you explore, experiences, thoughts, emotions, and fears, and look forward to being able to help you find the motivation and resilience to move forward and create positive changes in your life.
I am late diagnosed ADHD, which means I have a greater understanding and this informs my approach to working with clients with ADHD. I understand the challenges, which gives me a deeper appreciation of how they can effect focus, emotions and self-esteem and the real struggle to be able to manage your daily routines, the exhaustion of chasing dopamine and the feelings of failure from burnout. How making a small daily change in routines, which you can stick to, will help immensely in feeling a difference in your life.
I know that it’s not a one size fits all, I offer counselling in various ways, I support movement in the counselling room, telephone or video sessions, if this works for you. I have a garden room where I can see clients face to face in a calm peaceful setting.
How Counselling can help
Counselling can help you feel understood and not feel like you are having to find your own answers. Sometimes, you can be in a lonely place where you don't feel anyone gets you and your struggle and it's reassuring to know you are not alone. Once you have the feeling that you are completely understood you can then start to peel off some layers and see what's underneath, in a safe way. One client said "counselling feels like they have had a ball of wool wound tightly and once they have had a session, they can lay their pieces straight and not feel so tangled". It is a safe space to say whatever you need to and not feel any judgement or need to protect other peoples feelings. It is not about giving advice, its about being heard and acknowledged, what you are feeling is genuine.
I work with clients around a variety of issues, and have experience and interest in several areas including:
Anxiety, stress and depression
Low Self-esteem and feeling stuck
Grief, loss and loneliness
Carers who are caring for terminally ill or dementia
Clients who have had their own diagnoses and are left confused by their own feelings
Relationship difficulties, (partners, friends, family)
Trauma, PTSD, and the impact of childhood abuse or domestic violence
Neurodivergence including ADHD and autism
Menopausal issues
Clients who have stepped away from their faith and are struggling with their own identity
What to expect in sessions
I offer a free initial session so we can explore how we might work together
Your sessions are a chance for you to talk about what's happening for you, in your life, whether it be historical or right now. Many people find relief simply in being listened to without judgement and above all understood. From there, we can begin to make sense of your experiences, find ways to manage distressing feelings and explore the changes you want for yourself.
My therapy room is a private space within my garden which is a clam tranquil place for reflection and exploration, where you will always be treated with respect and compassion.
I offer online and telephone counselling, as well as face to face. I also accept that it isn’t always possible to to commit to weekly sessions.
Please email or whatsapp me in first instance.
Training, qualifications & experience
I work at The Butterfly Hospice, as a bereavement counsellor. I have experience in supporting post and pre bereaved adults and children, along with clients who are coming to terms with their own diagnoses. I have also worked at a child bereavement charity. I work with clients, supporting them through their grief, helping them get a better understanding of how they are feeling and ways to manage, going forward. I understand that processing grief is unique to everyone, as is the way a loved one can be taken. I can also help you work through loneliness and isolation. I also counsel carers of loved ones with terminal illnesses or dementia, this gives you a safe space to be able to voice your fears and work through your own feelings.
I have had over 25 years experience of managing children’s homes, where I encountered many challenges brought by the young people and the staff team. Dealing with trauma, historic abuse, emotional abuse, and many other complex issues.
I have worked as a co-ordinator for young carers, supporting them to find a balance from their caring roll and also still being a child. This role taught me a lot about having to find a balance and the importance of having someone just to listen to them.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
