About me
Hi, I’m Katja (Kati).
I specialise in trauma therapy and EMDR - working with the memories and experiences that stay with us and continue shaping how we feel, react and relate to others. EMDR is a structured, evidence-based method that supports the brain to process what has been stuck, helping you feel calmer and more in control of your inner world.
I’ve spent several years working at East Kent Rape Crisis Centre and The Rising Sun supporting adults through sexual abuse, domestic violence and complex relational trauma. This experience shapes my style-steady, clear and always focused on safety for your nervous system.
I offer face-to-face EMDR and trauma therapy in Canterbury, and speak English and German. My approach is structured, calm, and always at your pace - no pressure, no rush and no assumptions.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Client feedback
Some clients have shared that trauma-focused EMDR with me has helped them significantly reduce long-standing symptoms. Clients wrote:
"EMDR with Katja has genuinely changed my life. I've tried a lot of different therapies over the years, but nothing has ever worked for me the way this has. My flashbacks, nightmares and constant fear reduced massively - for the first time in years, I felt like I was getting my life back."

"Katja helped me realise that what happened to me did not define me and that seeking help was an act of strength not weakness."

"My relationships and my everyday life have changed for the better because of our work together. The progress still surprises me."
