About me
It can be exceptionally tough to start looking for therapy, and I'm proud of you for doing so today.
My name is Kathryn and I'm a person-centred and experiential psychotherapist. That means that my style of counselling is to keep your wants and needs at the centre of all of our sessions together. We will work as a team, and work together to get you where you want to be in life.
My main areas of therapeutic expertise are in gender identity, trauma, neurodivergence, and LGBTQ+ life.
I offer therapy exclusively through Zoom and over the phone, depending on your preference. This means you can access therapy from a confidential space in the comfort of your own home.
As both a practicing therapist and as someone who has healed and grown in therapy myself, I know how it feels to be in both chairs in the therapy office. I have experience of many of life's issues and have helped my clients through many more and, as such, I am ready to tackle any issues with you. If you are looking for somewhere to create meaning in your life, you are feeling lost or hopeless, or you are seeking emotional support, please get in touch.
Training, qualifications & experience
I achieved a BSc in Psychology in 2011, passing with a 2:1 from the University of Nottingham. I then passed my MSc in Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in 2018.
I have undergone extensive post-graduate training from Pink Therapy and Gendered Intelligence.
I have worked in various mental health jobs, in the NHS and in private services, since 2007, and I have specialised in working with the LGBTQ+ community since 2018. As well as working in my private practice, I have volunteered hundreds of hours since 2011 with various counselling charities, including the National Self-Harm Network, Derby Counselling Centre, Derby Women's Centre, and Hull and East Riding Survivors.
I am an individual BACP member and I am UKCP accredited. I follow their ethical guidelines as a practitioner.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I especially encourage transgender, non-binary, and gender-questioning individuals to get in touch with me. I’m a non-binary therapist who’s committed to centring LGBTQ+ experiences. I offer a limited number of low-cost spaces for trans and/or non-binary people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford sessions.

Further information
Here is how we can get started:
- Contact me by email at kathrynatfoxtherapy@gmail.com to say hello and see about setting up an initial session.
- Depending on what you’re most comfortable with, we can talk by email or phone to discuss any questions and, if you’re happy to, set up an initial session at a time that suits you.
- In our first session, we will talk about what you would like to get from therapy and what you expect. I will talk a little about the services I provide and what our therapeutic relationship might look like going forward.
- If we are happy to continue, we can set up a second session, and continue our sessions weekly or fortnightly.
All correspondences are treated with respect and confidentiality, and there are no obligations to continue.
