Art Psychotherapist (Registered with HCPC and BAAT)

About me

As a HCPC certified Art Psychotherapist, I offer a calm and supportive space for individuals to explore the difficulties and experiences which have brought them to therapy. Within this, I am passionate about the use of art making as a tool for expression and communication. This can involve use of art techniques such as drawing, painting, collage and moulding with clay. There is no requirement for artistic experience, it’s more about the process than the product.

I have a flexible, person centred approach to working according to what would be most helpful to each individual/ session. Some sessions might be focussed on art making and some sessions there might be no art making at all. My training is rooted in psychodynamic theory which explores how past experiences can impact a person’s life.

Since qualifying, I have worked in mental health support for University students. I also have experience working within schools and adult acute psychiatric wards, and working online.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
