About me

Hi there, thankyou for taking the time to read my profile.  I understand that reaching out for support and finding the right counsellor can feel overwhelming.  I am here to help you to take the first steps and can offer a safe, warm and caring space for you to explore any life struggles and difficult emotions you may be going through.

Have you had a difficult time recently?  Has your life path suddenly changed?  Maybe you have had a relationship breakup, lost someone close to you or you are struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression or loneliness.  Maybe something just doesn't feel right and you're not feeling yourself.  Or things that you used to feel able to cope with suddenly feel overwhelming.  Sometimes ways that we used to manage stop working and we feel at a loss of what to do.

My name is Katherine and I deeply understand these feelings, you don't have to struggle alone.  I can offer you support to navigate life's challenges, harness new coping mechanisms and I will be right along side you to find a way through together.

I am an accredited Psychotherapist (Level 7) registered with the BACP and alongside this I have 12 years experience working therapeutically with parents and families within the NHS.  I support clients with a range of issues that include;

  • Domestic Abuse
  • Adverse Childhood Experiences and Childhood Trauma
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • CPTSD
  • Work related stress and bullying
  • Relationship Issues
  • Neurodiversity
  • Addiction
  • Post-natal depression and Anxiety
  • Menopause struggles

With lived experience of domestic abuse and CPTSD I understand the importance of having a supportive and accepting presence in times of struggle and crisis.

Whatever difficulties you may be going through, I am here to listen and understand.  Through self-discovery my clients have been able to challenge old ways of thinking, find strength they didn't know they had and harness new coping mechanisms to support emotional wellbeing.

I currently work in private practice seeing clients 1-2-1 online and in person.

I am also currently employed within the NHS to work therapeutically with families and parents to support with a range of struggles such as post-natal anxiety, depression, domestic abuse, ACES and trauma.

I also currently work as a lecturer at LJMU for the module 'Working Therapeutically with Children and Families'.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
