About me

Hello - my name is Kate.  I am a professional, qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist - Accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.  I both face to face and online Sessions in Farnham, Guildford, Godalming and Haslemere in Surrey.

I aim to offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for clients to talk through whatever they wish to discuss in therapy. I will walk with you and explore with you whatever you choose to bring to the sessions.

I have a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Certificate in Couple Counselling. I can work with various areas of Depression, Low Mood, Anxiety, relationship problems, Drinking problems, Bereavement, Co-dependency and Addiction problems.

MY EXPERIENCE

I have undertaken a number of voluntary, temporary, sessional and permanent roles in London, Surrey and Essex working in treatment centres. I have undergone extensive training which complements and enhances my therapeutic work.  This includes Anxiety, Depression, Addiction, Co-dependency and Relationship issues. Also working with families of addicts and alcoholics.

My experience has included working as a Psychotherapist in a rehabilitation wing in a prison, GP surgeries and treatment centres for Drug and Alcohol addiction.  I have 30 years experience working with Addiction and 12-step recovery approach.

Prior to working in mental health and addiction, I worked in the corporate sector where I developed strong mentoring, management, training and leadership skills. I have a good understanding of the stresses of working life, particularly the balance between the personal and the professional; the private and public.

With a strong background in mental health, education, business and the field of addiction, my knowledge and experience has allowed me to see problems from a broader angle in assisting people find their own unique way to deal with their difficulties. I understand the internal and external pressures people can put on themselves, which can lead to unhelpful or damaging coping strategies.

I am fully insured, have ongoing clinical supervision and regularly attend courses and further training to enhance my knowledge and professionalism with Continued Professional Development (CPD).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
