About me

I've come to believe that creating a trusting environment and acceptance can help heal and bring greater personal freedom. My approach is to listen and respond with empathy, understanding, compassion and respect.

I have been practicing counselling since 2013 as an integrative therapist, using person centred, psychodynamic and CBT principles and techniques. I work with people who have experienced mental health issues such as depression, suicidal thoughts and feelings, anxiety and panic, grief and loss among other issues.  I also specialise in working with trauma either single or multiple  experiences.

In therapy the client can expect respectful engagement, increased self awareness, deepening understanding of the core issues, release from enduring challenging emotions and behaviours, improvements to circumstances and within personal relationships.

If you are interested in receiving counselling please contact me to arrange a free consultation over the phone or online. We can discuss what you would like from counselling and whether it is right for you.  Then arrange a suitable time and place to meet for your sessions, whether face to face or in  person.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I have been working within the area of mental health since 2003 and as a counsellor from 2013. I am passionate about mental health and wellbeing and love working in this field. It is a privilege to walk with people on their journey toward greater self discovery and personal freedom.

I use a wide variety of skills and techniques to help people become more self aware and in touch with challenges they are experiencing.  I have specialist knowledge and skills in my work with people who have experienced childhood trauma.

Although I live in Berwickshire and have a counselling space in Cockburnspath, I also have access to counselling rooms in Dunbar and Edinburgh Southside currently.
