About me

Venturing into counselling can be daunting but if you feel as though you would like to grasp a deeper understanding of who you are and what influences your thoughts feelings and actions, learn healthy coping mechanisms, better manage your difficult emotions and unlock your full potential then you may find that counselling is the right choice. I consider each client as an individual who has the ability to overcome life's challenges and find the inward strength to live a more fulfilling life.

Counselling is about working collaboratively. Therefore, as a therapist, I recognise that only you are an expert of your experiences and I do not act as though I have greater knowledge or understanding of your story, but by forming a cooperative relationship we will work together to create a new understanding of your experiences, allowing for transformation to grow.

My belief is that the power of listening and being there for clients empathetically can assist them to feel accepted and heard therefore, I aim to provide a non-judgemental, comfortable and safe space to enable clients to freely express their emotions and open up about their deepest inner thoughts.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor trained in Integrative Counselling and I am a registered member of the BACP (MBACP). This means I use a blend of approaches such as person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and existential approaches.

I provide in-person, online and telephone counselling either for a short-term or open-ended basis.

BSc (Hons) Counselling

As a member of the BACP, I undertake various continued professional development (CPD) workshops to broaden my competence, knowledge and skills. I am focused on growing and developing throughout my career to ensure that I retain my ability to practise safely, ethically and legally within my evolving scope of practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
