About me
Welcome
Hello, and welcome. I am a fully qualified integrative therapist, counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I offer individual, weekly therapy sessions over zoom to clients based in UK and Europe, and in person sessions in Southend-on-Sea and Leigh-on-Sea.
The therapeutic services I offer are neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirmative and gender inclusive.
There are many reasons to start therapy. You might be feeling a little lost, anxious, low, or unsure why certain patterns keep showing up in your life or relationships. Maybe you are struggling with identity or your sense of self. You may have tried therapy before and felt like it didn’t quite fit.
If any of this resonates, then I hear you and I see you.
About me
Before training as a therapist, I spent 15 years working in high-pressure environments as a forensic scientist and later as a teacher. These experiences shape how I work today; I’m naturally curious about patterns, what sits beneath the surface, and how past experiences continue to influence how we think, feel, and relate.
I also bring my own experience of being in therapy, which gives me an understanding of how challenging, and how meaningful, the process can be.
I won’t position myself as the expert on you - you are the expert in your own life. My role is to offer a safe, supportive space where we can explore, reflect, and make sense of your experiences together.
How I Work
I work as an integrative therapist, which means I draw on a range of approaches rather than sticking rigidly to just one. In practice, this allows me to tailor therapy to you, so you won’t find a one-size-fits-all method here, and equally, I’m not going to sit in silence while you do all the talking (unless that’s genuinely helpful).
My approach is grounded in humanistic, psychodynamic, and existential thinking, which means I’m interested in you as a whole person, the patterns in your relationships, and the bigger questions like “how did I get here?”. I focus on helping you understand the why behind your experiences, not just managing symptoms, but making sense of what’s shaped you and how it’s still showing up in your life.
Alongside this, I integrate trauma-informed approaches and somatic awareness into my work. Our experiences don’t just live in our thoughts, they are held in the body too. I draw upon science-backed approaches, such as breath-work and grounding techniques, supporting regulation and deeper awareness. This is always offered collaboratively, working in a way that feels natural, responsive, and attuned to what you need in the moment.
I offer long term therapy, sometimes referred to as open-ended therapy; and I also offer short term therapy consisting of 12 sessions. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit.
A note on fit: finding the right therapist is important, and it’s okay if it takes time. If something here resonates with you, please do get in touch and say hello.
Training, qualifications & experience
Experience
I have many years experience supporting people with a wide range of different challenges in the charity and public sectors, criminal justice system and in corporate companies.
Some of the more common reasons individuals have approached me for therapy and counselling are anxiety, low mood, depression, work related challenges (e.g. imposter syndrome, burnout, stress), low self esteem, relational difficulties (platonic, romantic and familial), identity and self exploration (around gender, sexuality and neurodivergence), spirituality, life transitions and loss and trauma.
This list isn’t exhaustive, please feel free to get in touch if you’re unsure.
I also have particular expertise in somatic awareness, having completed additional training in trauma-informed practice and nervous system regulation.
Training & Qualifications
I hold Foundation and Higher Diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling, alongside BSc. (Hons) Forensic and Crime Scene Science, MSc. Forensic Toxicology by Research, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). I am also a Certified Breathwork Practitioner.
In a commitment to providing you with quality care, I am always engaging in further training courses and CPD, feel free to contact me if you would like an extensive list or to know specifics about the further training I have done.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
