About me

I'm a psychotherapeutic counsellor working with both adults, children and couples experiencing issues related to anxiety, panic attacks and depression, bullying, difficulties arising from childhood experiences, loneliness or low self-esteem, relationship issues (including family dynamics), self-harm, setting boundaries, work-related stress and identity.

I have particular experience in working with trauma. This includes childhood abuse, domestic abuse, bereavement and loss, sudden and traumatic death, PTSD, ageing and identity. In addition, I work with both male and female survivors of sexual violence.

I'm clinically supervised and accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy). I have an enhanced DBS certification and full personal indemnity insurance.

  • I offer counselling for individuals and couples online and by telephone. I offer walk-and-talk counselling in the High Peak.
  • Sessions can be long-term, short-term, or time-limited.
  • Sessions are usually 60 minutes and can be offered online via Zoom, or by telephone.

Together, we will spend one or more sessions learning about you in order to understand your concerns, and then create a treatment strategy based on your goals. We will discuss our working agreement and go through some of your details.

I blend elements from different approaches and tailor your treatment according to your need. Regular attendance, usually on a weekly basis, is important for effective therapy. Together, we will develop a strong working relationship, set realistic goals, and support and challenge each other as needed.

If my approach sounds like what you’re looking for, the next step is for us to arrange a free 20 minute call to discuss where you are now and where you would like to be. Please call me on 07961 860470 or send me an email.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Accredited Member, British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (899885)
  • Member, UK Association for Transactional Analysis
  • Advanced Diploma Award Psychotherapeutic Counselling
  • Certificate in Trauma-Focused Therapy
  • Certificate in Couples Counselling
  • Therapeutic and Educational Application of the Arts
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Enhanced DBS certification.

I am trained in several counselling approaches, including Transactional Analysis (four years of Advanced Clinical Training), Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), breath work, and creative therapy, which brings together the integration of seven art forms with the spoken word.

My other specialist qualifications include trauma focused therapy, online and telephone counselling, and working with couples.

I also support individuals in the arts industry. Before training as a counsellor, I was a full time artist; working in the community and in the public and private sector. I delivered talks and training on understanding physical, mental, and social health benefits of the arts and arts therapies, exploring the unique ways in which aesthetic experience can inspire care and human thriving through life.

I am an identical twin, with patterns of neurodiversity in my family makeup.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
